Rockhampton Regional Council is inviting community feedback on a proposal to establish a new fenced dog off-leash area (DOLA) at Cedric Archer Park, Gracemere.
About the Proposal
The proposed dog off-leash area is designed to create a safe, functional and welcoming space for dogs and their owners, while balancing the needs of other park users. The facility would include the following features:
Secure fencing with dual-lock entry gates (approximately 2,200m²)
Waste disposal and rubbish bag dispensers
Regulatory signage
Bench seating
A drinking bubbler
Site preparation and landscaping would be undertaken as part of the project, with measures in place to protect existing vegetation. A specialised rubble pit is also proposed to assist with stormwater management and improve the area’s durability during heavy rainfall.
Site Considerations
The proposed location is adjacent to Fisher Street and near sporting fields, making fencing an important safety feature for dogs, owners and other park users.
While there are currently no bollards installed along Fisher Street, the existing gully easement is considered to provide adequate protection for the park and proposed infrastructure.
Community Context
Cedric Archer Park is a well-utilised regional park and already experiences informal dog off-leash use. Although a dog off-leash area is located nearby at Remembrance Park, community feedback has consistently highlighted a desire for additional, accessible and fenced dog exercise areas in Gracemere
Have Your Say
Your input is essential. Whether you're a local resident, a regular visitor, or part of a community group, we want to hear your thoughts. Community feedback will help shape the future of this proposal and ensure the best outcome for all park users.
Survey closes Sunday, 8 March 2026.
