Proposed Dog Off-Leash Area at Cedric Archer Park

Project Update: Community Consultation Complete

Thank you to everyone who shared their feedback on the proposed fenced dog off leash area at Cedric Archer Park.

Community consultation has now closed, with strong support received for the project. Based on this feedback, Council will move ahead with plans to construct the new fenced facility.

Construction is expected to commence in the coming months, with the new space anticipated to open later this year, weather and site conditions permitting.

Updates on construction progress and opening dates will be shared as the project advances.

What’s Planned?

The new dog off leash area will provide approximately 2,200m² of secure space for dogs to exercise and socialise. Features will include:

  • Secure fencing with dual-lock entry gates (approximately 2,200m²)
  • Regulatory signage
  • Bench seating
  • A drinking bubbler

The design has been developed to complement the existing park while protecting surrounding vegetation and integrating with the wider recreational area.

    Rockhampton Regional Council is inviting community feedback on a proposal to establish a new fenced dog off-leash area (DOLA) at Cedric Archer Park, Gracemere.

    Whether you're a local resident, a regular visitor, or part of a community group, we want to hear your thoughts. 

    This consultation will help Council make an informed, community-driven decision and respond to a recent petition presented by residents.
