Flying-foxes, sometimes known as fruit bats, regularly visit Rockhampton local government area. Rockhampton Regional Council is preparing a Rockhampton Flying-fox Roost Management Plan to assist in reducing impacts of flying-foxes on Rockhampton communities, whilst also conserving flying-foxes and the important ecosystem services they provide. The Plan will focus on three flying-fox roosts that, at times, conflict with human settlement. These roosts are located at the:

    • Rockhampton Botanic Gardens
    • Westwood township
    • Kabra township

The Plan will guide Council’s response to community concerns, and will include detailing a transparent framework Council will use to inform decision-making about flying-fox habitat and populations.

Council is seeking your valued feedback with this survey, and your responses will be used to inform the Plan. The survey consists of multiple choice and optional short answer responses. It will take approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete. You are able to save your answers and complete the survey later.

Survey responses will be broadly summarised in the Plan. Your responses will not be identifiable, and your details will not be published, shared or used for any other purpose.
