Rockhampton Regional Council is rolling out a Bin Lid Harmonisation Program to standardise general waste bin lids across the region.
Households with dark green lids on their general waste bins will have them retrofitted to red.
This change brings all local waste collection wheelie bins in line with the national standards, making it easier to identify the correct bin to use, whether you are at home, out and about or even if you’re on holidays.
The program will begin on Monday, 14 July and run for approximately four weeks, progressing through kerbside collection areas across the region.
Residents with a dark green lid on their general waste bin are asked to place their bins out between 6am and 6pm on their usual collection day during the program period to allow enough time for the changeover.
If your bin already has a red lid, no changes will be made.
Lid changeovers will happen from 14 July 2025 until August 2025, weather and project constraints permitting.
This initiative is supported by the Queensland Government’s Recycling and Jobs Fund.
